XMLPad 2.2 new features.
New features in current release:
-- Online update subscriber.
We had a long discussion regarding this feature and the fact is - we don't like a programs which are trying to connect some remote site immediately after the first run. But the truth is - we can't synchronize the latest release of the XMLPad across all the freeware and shareware resources over the Internet. Some of the resources want to get paid for quick updates, otherwise it may take up to two month delay. Some of the resources copying XMLPad without noticing us at all. So, from now on, once in a week XMLPad will try to connect to our site - wmhelp.com, and download a small XML file with the latest update information. In most cases if there is no new upgrades - you will never notice about this process. In case we will upgrade current version or publish a new major release - the small XMLPad icon will appear on your Windows taskbar. By clicking on that icon you will be routed directly to the page on our site with information regarding the latest update.
The decision of install or skip the new release is yours, after you close your browser window with this new update information XMLPad will never notice you about the same update. If you don't want to allow your XMLPad to check for the latest update - you may turn off this option in Tools -> Settings -> General by unchecking the "Subscribe me on WMHelp.com news channel" checkbox as shown on screenshot below.
-- Using bookmarks in the editor.
Bookmarks are a powerful feature in XMLPad that let you easily place a marker in a editor. This saves the location so you can return to this line again later. To quick add a bookmark you can use the hot key Ctrl-Shift-# where # is a bookmark number (0-9). The bookmark appear in the editor.

To move the cursor to the bookmarked line use the hot key Ctrl-# where # is a bookmark number. To delete the bookmark use the same hot key Ctrl-Shift-# where # is a number of bookmark to delete.
-- XML tags correction.
XMLPad allow you to automatically correct related tags names if you accidentally misspell them. This option available in the XMLPad editor. If you misspell the tag this tag will be highlighted and special correction button will appear on the left.

By clicking on correction button you can synchronize the open and closing tags names. Depending on your current cursor position you can synchronize closing tag name with open one or opening tag with closing.

-- DTD Diagram export.
You can export DTD diagram to standard Windows .emf file (Extended (Enhanced) Windows Metafile Format). Various programs use this extension, too many to list individually. For example you can upload the diagram in .emf file into Microsoft Visio for future editing or printing.
To export the DTD diagram to .emf file use menu DTD > Export Diagram to Metafile... In Save As dialog box choose the location and name for the export file.
